Napoli’s Antonio Conte Reflects on Summer Transfer Activity
Napoli’s manager Antonio Conte shared insights into the club’s summer transfer strategy following yesterday’s win against Pisa.
Key Transfers for Napoli
Conte addressed inquiries regarding the significant signings Napoli secured, which notably included Kevin de Bruyne and Rasmus Hojlund.
Coach’s Perspective on Transfers
He remarked, “Did we make a significant signing? Our primary focus was to strengthen a squad that was almost nonexistent. The importance of each transfer is, in my opinion, aligned with the task at hand.”
“Other clubs have already established teams; acquiring nine players implies you’re integrating nearly half a new team, which is inherently challenging. There’s a lot of chatter about these ‘big’ signings… but truthfully, it only holds weight in terms of quantity.”
He elaborated, “When you invest €150 million on nine players, that breaks down to about €15-20 million each.”
“In contrast, genuine major players—those regarded as game-changers—typically command fees of €50, €60, or even €70 million. That’s what defines a significant acquisition.”
