Palmer ‘extremely satisfied’ at Chelsea, claims Rosenior

Chelsea’s head coach Liam Rosenior asserts that Cole Palmer is “extremely satisfied” at Stamford Bridge, despite rumors suggesting the England forward is feeling homesick.

Palmer’s Manchester Roots

The 23-year-old, originally from Manchester, has been reported to miss aspects of life in the North, particularly with ongoing speculation linking him to Manchester United.

Palmer, a lifelong United supporter, developed his skills in the academy of Manchester City before making a move to Chelsea for £42.5 million in 2023. In August 2024, he signed a contract extension that keeps him with the club until 2033.

Rosenior’s Support

Rosenior mentioned, “I’ve had several discussions with Cole, and he appears to be, and is, extremely satisfied to be here.” He underlined Palmer’s significance in their long-term strategy, calling him an exceptional player. “Every athlete faces challenging times, particularly with injuries, but that does not reflect his talent.”

Injury Challenges and Speculation

This season, Palmer has been visibly frustrated due to managing an ongoing groin injury. Speculation surrounding his future heightened after he showed minimal celebration during a second-half penalty against Brentford and headed straight for the dressing room following Chelsea’s 2-0 victory.

Rosenior explained, “The frustration shown in the Brentford match stemmed from his inability to perform at his expected level, not due to dissatisfaction with being here. My role, along with the club, is to facilitate his consistent performance at his desired standard.”

Looking Ahead

Palmer was sidelined during Chelsea’s recent 1-0 Champions League triumph over Pafos due to a minor thigh issue. The manager stated they would evaluate how he responds in training before their upcoming match against Crystal Palace.

Additionally, Rosenior confirmed that goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen would be unavailable, although his injury is less severe than initially thought, potentially allowing him to return for the mid-week Champions League clash against Napoli. Furthermore, midfielder Dario Essugo will be out for over a month due to an injury sustained during training.
