Christian Eriksen Reflects on His First Bundesliga Experience

Christian Eriksen Makes His Debut for VfL Wolfsburg

Eriksen’s First Game Experience

After his transfer to VfL Wolfsburg was finalized toward the end of the transfer window, Christian Eriksen made his inaugural appearance for the club in a match against Borussia Dortmund, which ended in a 1-0 loss. The 33-year-old Danish midfielder entered the match as a substitute with approximately 30 minutes left on the clock.

Reflections Post-Debut

Following the match, Eriksen shared his thoughts about playing in the Bundesliga during an interview with WAZ.

“Overall, I’m definitely glad to have been on the pitch and to have debuted,” Eriksen remarked. “However, I am disappointed with the result – we left without any points. Nonetheless, I feel proud to have played in my first match.”

The Challenge of Playing at Signal Iduna Park

Eriksen noted that the vibrant atmosphere at Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park presented a significant challenge for Wolfsburg.

“It’s a fantastic stadium. The fans create an incredible noise for the entire 90 minutes – that’s a unique aspect of football,” he commented.

“Certainly, I would have appreciated a calmer debut, but it’s undeniably a remarkable venue. Dortmund is a very formidable team, yet I believe we demonstrated that we can hold our own against them. They might have had a week filled with challenges due to a midweek match – we did not. Nonetheless, they have an excellent squad.”
