Rosenior Expresses Frustration Over Emegha’s Treatment by Fans
Strasbourg’s head coach Liam Rosenior voiced his anger after witnessing fans boo and ridicule captain Emanuel Emegha during a recent match.
Fan Reaction to Emegha’s Chelsea Move
Emegha, who has agreed to join Chelsea at the end of the current season, faced backlash from Strasbourg supporters.
The 22-year-old striker missed the team’s victory against Le Havre due to injury but was met with discontent when he received a Player of the Month award. A banner was displayed in the stands that read: “Emegha, pawn of BlueCo. After changing shirt, give back your captain’s armband.”
Chelsea and Strasbourg are both under the ownership of BlueCo, leading to frustration among supporters regarding the club’s direction.
Rosenior’s Comments on the Situation
Following the win over Le Havre, Rosenior stated, “Emanuel Emegha was heartbroken, and so was I.”
He continued, “I am incredibly disappointed to see a banner targeting one of last season’s standout players. This behavior is unacceptable. My players deserve better recognition; they have shown commendable effort and do not merit this kind of disrespect.
“We’re in a crucial season with aspirations for the European Cup, but it appears a small group of fans are dissatisfied with our results. This situation will not alter my support for my team, and Emanuel Emegha will continue as captain while he’s here. It’s important to note that this discontent is expressed by only a minority.”
