Chelsea Icon Terry Clarifies Oxford Speculations

John Terry Declines Interest for Oxford United Manager Role

Terry Dismisses Managerial Speculations

Chelsea legend John Terry has officially distanced himself from the opportunity to become the manager of Oxford United. This announcement comes in light of last week’s termination of Gary Rowett from the Championship club.

No Plans for a Job Application

Despite being linked to the managerial vacancy, Terry has clarified that he has no intention of pursuing the role at Oxford. In a video he shared on TikTok while enjoying a round of golf, he expressed his surprise at the rumors surrounding his potential candidacy.

Terry’s Commitment to Chelsea

“I’m currently enjoying my time on the golf course and I’m not sure how these speculations began,” Terry stated in the video. “Rest assured, I am not seeking a new position.”

He continued, “I cherish my role at Chelsea’s academy, where I help nurture players as they transition from youth teams to reserves and then into the first team. I greatly value my involvement in this process.”

Terry emphasized, “I have not reached out to Oxford or engaged in any discussions regarding the position. I want to be clear that I’m ruling myself out. I wish the best for Oxford and whoever ultimately takes on the managerial role—just know it won’t be me. Up the Chels.”
