Hakim Ziyech Loses Potential Move to CFR Cluj
Free Agent Status
Former Chelsea and Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech remains without a club after failing to secure a move to Romania’s CFR Cluj.
Negotiations Come to a Halt
Recent discussions regarding Ziyech’s transfer have come to an end, as club owner Ioan Varga announced the decision to withdraw from negotiations.
Varga remarked, “Ziyech was unable to proceed due to an issue with his left knee that I was informed about. He is an exceptional individual, but I cannot justify investing a substantial amount for a player who may have health concerns.”
He added, “In watching him play with Galatasaray, he appeared to show signs of trepidation on the field.”
Decision to Move On
The club’s management ultimately resolved to terminate the talks. Varga expressed regret over the situation, stating, “It’s unfortunate because he is a unique talent, but the risks were too great for us.”
He further explained, “Ziyech was asking for an annual salary of 2.5 million euros, a figure I couldn’t offer to a player whose fitness was uncertain.”
Varga concluded with well wishes for Ziyech, hoping he recovers and finds success with another team while affirming that CFR Cluj will pursue healthier alternatives to strengthen their squad.
