Central Regional FA Hosts Thriving Ordinary Congress in Cape Coast
Overview of the Event
The Central Regional Football Association (CRFA) recently convened its 2025 Ordinary Congress within the Conference Room of the CRFA Secretariat, situated at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast. This significant gathering took place on Friday, October 31, 2025, uniting club executives, referees, football officials, and other vital participants to assess the previous season and outline future strategies for regional football advancement.
Leadership and Commitments
Chaired by CRFA Chairman, Robert Otieku Duncan, the congress featured discussions involving various affiliates of the Association.
In a speech delivered on behalf of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, by the Greater Accra RFA Chairman, Samuel Aboabire, the GFA reiterated its dedication to nurturing grassroots and women’s football. Aboabire announced a significant investment of US$100,000, allocated for footballs intended for Division Two, Division Three, and Women’s Division One League clubs, in addition to another US$100,000 designated for support to colts football throughout the nation.
Support for Upcoming Championships
Aboabire disclosed that regions participating in the U-17, U-15, and U-13 Regional Colts Championship will be provided with a complete set of jerseys, ten footballs, and GHS 10,000 each. Furthermore, champions of the Women’s Division One League will receive both a trophy and GHS 10,000 to aid their initiatives and preparations.
The statement from President Simeon-Okraku emphasized ongoing efforts to bolster youth involvement in football. It reiterated the GFA’s collaboration with Regional Football Associations to enhance youth and girls’ football nationwide. Several initiatives are on the horizon, including Inter-District U-15 and U-17 festivals, the Girls’ U-15 Inter-Regional Challenge Cup, the National U-15 Boys Cup, and a pilot U-19 boys tournament, all organized by the respective RFAs.
Emphasis on Discipline and Development
During his address, CRFA Chairman Robert Otieku Duncan commended the increasing competitiveness of regional football and expressed eagerness for a more prosperous forthcoming season. He underscored the significance of following matchday protocols as per the Game Center Policy, declaring a zero-tolerance approach toward hooliganism and violent behaviors at match venues. Duncan warned that substantial penalties would be imposed on individuals who assault match officials or disrupt games.
In addition, he announced the complete implementation of the Competition Management System (CMS) for the 2025/26 season, which follows a successful pilot testing in two zones last year. Duncan praised the GFA for its initiative to hold off-season competitions and promised to set up committees to ensure effective participation. He also recognized the launch of the Girls Colts League, describing it as a timely enhancement for women’s football growth in the region.
Upcoming Season
The Central Region Division Two League is slated to commence on November 7, 2025, across designated Game Centers. Congress participants left the event with renewed motivation and a collective resolve to improve football standards, enforce discipline, and promote youth development within the region.
