Fabio Cannavaro Appointed as Head Coach of Uzbekistan National Team
Italy’s World Cup-winning defender, Fabio Cannavaro, has been appointed as the head coach of Uzbekistan.
Leading Uzbekistan’s World Cup Qualifiers
The Ballon d’Or recipient is set to guide the Uzbek national team through their World Cup qualifying journey.
The Uzbekistan Football Association made the announcement today, stating: “We have officially contracted Fabio Cannavaro—an esteemed expert in football, a participant in three FIFA World Cups, a champion of the 2006 World Cup, and recognized as one of the elite defenders of the current era.”
The Italian coach will oversee the team’s preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which will take place across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Cannavaro will be supported by an experienced team of assistants:
- Eugenio Albarella — Assistant Coach (formerly associated with the Japan national team, Juventus, Udinese, and Dinamo Zagreb)
- Francesco Troise — Fitness Coach (previously with Benevento, Udinese, and Dinamo Zagreb)
- Antonio Chimenti — Goalkeeper Coach (previous experience with Italy’s youth national teams, Sampdoria, and SPAL)
