CAF Awards: Mayele Wins CAF Interclub Player of the Year

Fiston Mayele has been named the 2025 CAF Men’s Interclub Player of the Year after a season that firmly placed him among the top performers in African football.

His recognition was confirmed at the CAF Awards ceremony in Rabat, which marks the biggest personal milestone of his club career.

Mayele’s nine goals in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League proved decisive as Pyramids clinched the title for the first time in their history.

The shortlist also featured teammate Mohamed Chibi, whose performances at right-back were key to Pyramids’ triumphant season.

Chibi impressed with his blend of defensive stability and attacking contribution from the flanks.

RS Berkane striker Oussama Lamlioui was another contender after scoring six goals to help the Moroccan side win the CAF Confederation Cup.

Lamlioui also played a central role in Berkane’s first-ever Botola Pro title.

In the end, Mayele’s contributions gave him the edge and secured his place at the top of African club football for 2025.
