Real Club Deportivo Espanyol has officially welcomed a new stakeholder as the investment group Velocity Sports Partners (VSP), associated with ALK Capital and led by Alan Pace, takes the helm. Pace, who also serves as the chairman of Burnley, brings a wealth of experience to the Spanish club.

The era of Chen Yansheng and the Rastar group has concluded after a mix of successes and challenges. Nevertheless, Rastar will remain involved during this transitional phase, as noted by the club, which has undergone extensive audits to facilitate this new partnership.

Commitment to Club Identity

Pace, who is well-acquainted with the football landscape due to his ownership of Burnley in the Premier League, emphasized the importance of maintaining the unique identities of both clubs.

“It’s not about ownership; it’s about management. Burnley will continue to be Burnley, and Espanyol will remain Espanyol. Each club retains its distinct identity and governance, focused on its own supporters,” stated Pace.

This emphasis on local connection is crucial for the new shareholder, who aims to enhance ties with the surrounding community.
