Manuel Neuer Celebrates Milestone Birthday with Record-Breaking Achievement
Neuer Reaches a New High in Bundesliga Wins
Manuel Neuer has recently celebrated his 40th birthday and is now recognized as the player with the most wins in Bundesliga history. In recent weeks, he surpassed his longtime teammate at FC Bayern Munich, Thomas Müller, to achieve this significant milestone.
Record Wins and Contributions
Neuer has accumulated a remarkable total of 372 wins, with most of these victories achieved while playing for the dominant FC Bayern. A portion of these wins also came during his time at FC Schalke 04, his previous club. Thomas Müller recorded 362 wins strictly with Bayern before moving to Canada, allowing Neuer to take the lead.
Notable Achievements from Other Players
With 310 wins, Oliver Kahn, another former goalkeeper for FC Bayern Munich, ranks third on the list. Kahn’s winning tally includes matches he played while starting his Bundesliga career at Karlsruher SC, although the bulk of his victories were also secured with Bayern.
Honorable Mentions in the Top Ten
In fourth place is Manfred Kaltz, the only player in the top ten who never donned the FC Bayern jersey. Kaltz made all his Bundesliga appearances with Hamburger SV during their successful era in the late 1970s and early 1980s, amassing 291 wins from 581 matches, which solidifies his second-place rank for all-time appearances.
Following him is Robert Lewandowski, who holds fifth place with 274 wins, mostly during his successful tenure at FC Bayern after his stint at Borussia Dortmund from 2010 to 2014, where he contributed to two consecutive league titles.
Sitting sixth is Mats Hummels, who has 268 wins. Hummels’ career has primarily been tied to Borussia Dortmund, aside from a few years with Bayern Munich. Interestingly, he initially transferred from Bayern to Dortmund.
Further Rankings of Winning Players
Remaining players in the standings predominantly have roots in FC Bayern Munich. Philipp Lahm is in seventh place with 250 wins, while Lothar Matthäus and Sepp Maier share the eighth spot with 249 wins each. Claudio Pizarro rounds out the top ten with 248 wins, having had a career defined by his time at Werder Bremen and Bayern, concluding with a remarkable return to Werder in 2020, where he became the oldest goalscorer in Bundesliga history.
