Victor Boniface Facing Possible Season-Ending Surgery

Struggles at Werder Bremen

Reports from Sport Bild indicate that Bayer Leverkusen’s forward Victor Boniface may be heading for knee surgery that could put an end to his season. The Nigerian player’s loan at Bundesliga rivals Werder Bremen has been a significant disappointment, prompting Leverkusen’s medical staff to consider keeping him off the field to avoid further complications.

Goal Drought and Limited Appearances

As of now, Boniface has failed to find the back of the net for Werder Bremen. Coach Steffen initially gave him starting opportunities during matchdays eight and nine, but those opportunities quickly evaporated. Since then, Boniface has made only four substitute appearances. A knee injury sustained during the recent “Nordderby” match against Hamburger SV has sidelined him from training for the past fortnight.

Decline in Market Value

Transfermarkt has revised Boniface’s estimated market value downward on two occasions this fall. At the beginning of the season, he was valued at around €40 million. Following successive adjustments, his current market value is now estimated at €12 million.
