Senegal Overcomes Sudan in AFCON Round of 16
Senegal staged a comeback to claim victory over Sudan in the first match of the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The 1970 champions stunned everyone by taking an early lead when Aamir Abdallah netted his inaugural international goal with a beautifully curved shot.
The player on loan from Bayern Munich was substituted shortly after the start of the second half due to a yellow card. Senegal ultimately secured their win through a swift counterattack, capped off by Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG in the 77th minute. Pape Thiaw’s squad is set to meet either Tunisia or Mali in the quarter-finals next Friday.
