Brys Criticizes Etoos Dismissal Before AFCON: Outrageous and Unlawful!

Brys Criticizes Eto’o After Dismissal from Cameroon Coaching Position

The recent termination of Marc Brys as head coach of the Cameroon national football team has sparked controversy, particularly regarding the motives behind his dismissal, which he attributes to the federation’s president, Samuel Eto’o.

Dismissal Announcement

The Cameroon Football Federation declared Brys’ removal less than three weeks ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. This decision came shortly after Eto’o was re-elected as the federation’s president, despite the team’s inability to qualify for the recent World Cup.

Brys’ Comments on His Dismissal

In an interview with Sporza, Brys expressed his belief that Eto’o was the driving force behind his exit. He remarked sarcastically on Eto’o’s extended presidency, highlighting the lack of competition during the election.

Brys stated, “To me, he took advantage of this scenario to execute a bizarre and unlawful maneuver.”

He continued to criticize Eto’o’s actions, saying, “He dismantled all roles within the Ministry of Sport, including those in the coaching staff, replacing them with individuals of his choosing. Dismissing everyone without just cause seems utterly illegal. Such actions cannot be taken lightly or without justification.”

In his remarks, he also voiced concern about the timing of the appointments, noting, “In the lead-up to a significant tournament for our national squad, he assigns unqualified individuals, leaving them to fend for themselves. This is unheard of in professional football globally.”

Final Thoughts

Brys concluded by asserting that Eto’o was determined to eliminate him from his position, recounting, “From the very start, he has belittled me, and I reached my limit. There was too much negativity to effectively perform my role.”
