Benfica Candidate Aims to Bring Klopp as New Coach
Benfica’s presidential hopeful, Cristovão Carvalho, has expressed his ambition to appoint Jurgen Klopp as the club’s next head coach.
Plans for Coaching Change
If elected, Carvalho intends to dismiss the current manager, Bruno Lage, and replace him with the former Liverpool leader, Klopp.
Klopp is presently serving as the global football director at Red Bull.
Carvalho’s Vision for Benfica
“In my tenure, Bruno Lage will not continue beyond his existing contract, which concludes at the season’s end. I seek a top-tier coach who has experience winning the Champions League and aims to achieve that success with Benfica,” Carvalho stated to SIC Noticias.
“There is one name that stands out: Jürgen Klopp. He has previously mentioned that Benfica is a fantastic club he would be interested in managing one day. Someone who expresses this sentiment undoubtedly has a deeper connection to the club than others.”
