Lucas Vazquez Reflects on His Summer Departure from Real Madrid

Bayer Leverkusen’s wing-back, Lucas Vazquez, has shared his thoughts regarding his exit from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.

A Difficult Decision

Vazquez acknowledges that leaving Madrid was a challenging choice for him, but he now believes that the decision was ultimately beneficial.

He commented to Cadena Cope: “I received offers from various clubs, yet I was determined to keep competing at the highest level. This move presents a positive opportunity for all areas of my life.”

Looking Toward the Future

Vazquez added, “It’s likely that I will conclude my playing career outside of Spain; returning doesn’t seem to be in my plans. Currently, I am thriving and excited to continue my career.”

Expressing nostalgia, he noted, “I miss my teammates and the staff at the club… especially the people. I have been fortunate to have had so many great experiences at Real Madrid. I was hesitant to depart, but I now see it as an enriching change for me.”
