Barcelonas Deco Addresses Dro Situation: Its All Been Exaggerated
Teenage Midfielder Transfers from Barcelona to PSG
A young midfielder has made the switch from FC Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, with the transfer finalized last month for a sum of €8.5 million. Interestingly, his release clause was initially set at €6 million.
Insights from Deco on the Departure
In a recent interview, Deco spoke about the player’s decision to leave the club, stating, “He chose to depart from the team. There is no other club like Barça, and he’s not the only one who has made this choice.”
On Player Development and Daily Interaction
Deco elaborated on the limited interaction staff have with players, saying, “We spend around two to three hours daily with our players at the Ciutat Esportiva, but we are not involved in their everyday lives or thoughts. He could have also continued playing for the Juvenil A team in the Youth League, which is suitable for his age.”
Clarifying the Circumstances Surrounding the Transfer
He expressed that the situation has been exaggerated due to the player’s association with the first team, explaining, “This has been blown out of proportion because he was seen as a part of the first team setup. He had a release clause, and unfortunately, we didn’t manage to extend it in time.”
Deco further mentioned, “We had plans to discuss his contract renewal with his agent when he turned 18. However, things progressed quickly thereafter, and there’s little more to add.”
