Barcelona Presidential Hopeful Vows to Bring Messi Back to Camp Nou

Messi’s Potential Return to Barcelona

Departure from Barcelona

The now 38-year-old Lionel Messi left Barcelona in 2021 due to the club’s financial struggles, subsequently joining Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) where he spent the last two years.

The Hope for a Reunion

Since his departure, Messi has been the subject of speculation regarding a possible return to Barcelona. Presidential candidate Joan Font is eager to turn this hope into reality.

Font shared his thoughts with Mundo Deportivo, stating, “As a lifelong Barcelona supporter, I feel exhilarated at the thought, but ultimately it hinges on Messi himself. We must avoid exploiting his name.”

He continued, “I believe President Laporta has made mistakes in this regard, particularly during the election period.”

Font emphasized, “It’s essential that Messi is not misused, but I want him to know that if I’m elected, my first call will be to him.”

He added, “It’s our duty to engage with anyone who can assist in shaping the future, and it’s crucial to understand their intentions.”

Font concluded, “We also need to recognize that these individuals are integral to the club. Exploiting their status is illogical. That said, my first action upon winning the election will definitely be to reach out to Leo Messi.”
