At the beginning of the season, midfielder Bernal was advised to join Girona on a temporary basis to secure more playing time. However, he opted to remain with FC Barcelona and has surpassed expectations, featuring in 27 matches and netting five goals so far this season.

“I knew from the start that my choice was to stay. I’ve been part of this club for a long time; it is my life. I believe I made the right choice, as I wouldn’t have had these experiences anywhere else,” he shared with Sport.

Recovery and Contract Negotiations

After undergoing knee surgery last year, Bernal has made a significant comeback and is currently in discussions for a new contract. Initially, he signed an agreement valid until 2029 while he was in recovery.

Due to his notable contributions on the field, Barcelona is now working on updating his contract to reflect his performance and development.
