AS FAR Edge ASEC To Win Second CAF Women’s Champions League Title

AS FAR clinched their second CAF Women’s Champions League crown after edging ASEC Mimosas 2-1 in the final.

The Moroccan side took control early when Hanane Ait El Haj converted a 13th-minute penalty earned by Safa Banouk.

ASEC regrouped after the interval and found their breakthrough as Ami Priscal Diallo powered in a header from a Sopie Brou delivery.

However, AS FAR regained the advantage late on when Noura Diarra’s mistimed challenge gifted them another penalty.

Zineb Redouani stepped forward in the 85th minute and calmly restored the lead for the Rabat giants.

ASEC pushed desperately for an equaliser, with Asastasie Gbehi narrowly missing in added time before receiving a red card after the final whistle.

The victory places AS FAR alongside Mamelodi Sundowns as two-time champions of the competition.

Their next assignment is a showdown with China’s Wuhan Jiangda on December 14 for a place at the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.

The winner of that clash will advance to meet European champions Arsenal in the semi-finals in London early next year.
