Arsenal Faces International Withdrawal of Six Players Due to Injuries Amid Premier League Title Aspirations
Six Arsenal Players Withdraw from International Duty
Gabriel Magalhaes Latest to Withdraw
Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes has joined the list of players from Arsenal who will miss out on international responsibilities due to injury. He will not participate in Brazil’s friendlies against France and Croatia, which are scheduled to take place in the United States.
Injury Details
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced that Gabriel is sidelined with “pain in his right knee,” a condition verified by imaging tests. This injury comes on the heels of his participation in Arsenal’s recent match, where he played the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City during the Carabao Cup final.
Other Withdrawals
In addition to Gabriel, several other Arsenal first-team players have also pulled out of this international window:
- William Saliba: The French centre-back has also withdrawn from the national team set to face Brazil and Colombia.
- Eberechi Eze: The England midfielder, who was called up for friendlies against Uruguay and Japan, had to exit due to a calf injury sustained in Arsenal’s Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen.
- Leandro Trossard: The Arsenal winger is out of the Belgium squad for matches against the USA and Mexico due to injury.
- Martin Odegaard: The club captain is unavailable for Norway selection due to a knee injury.
- Jurrien Timber: The Dutch defender is also currently sidelined.
Arsenal’s Title Challenge
Despite these setbacks, Arsenal is in a strong position to secure their first Premier League title in 22 years, holding a nine-point lead over second-placed Manchester City. Their next contest will be against Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-finals on April 4, followed by a Champions League quarter-final match against Sporting on April 7. The Gunners will resume their league campaign on April 11 against Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium.
