Arne Riise Identifies the Ideal Player to Fill Salahs Shoes: Hes on a Scoring Streak!
Liverpool Legend Suggests Bournemouth Star as Salah Replacement
Salah’s Bench Time Raises Questions
Liverpool icon John Arne Riise has hinted that Bournemouth’s Antonie Semenyo would be an ideal candidate to take over from Mohamed Salah at Anfield. Following a dramatic 3-3 tie against Leeds United, Salah expressed his frustration, feeling he has been “thrown under the bus” after being sidelined for three consecutive matches by manager Arne Slot.
This situation has led to widespread speculation about Salah’s future at the club, with reports indicating that the upcoming January transfer window could see him departing Liverpool. Among those considered as potential replacements is Semenyo, who is generating significant buzz as the transfer discussions heat up.
Riise’s Endorsement of Semenyo
In a conversation with footitalia.com, Riise was asked about the prospect of the 25-year-old becoming a valuable addition to Liverpool’s lineup.
“I mean he’s on fire and he’s a tricky player to play against and he would suit Liverpool. Obviously, we like to play with wingers taking on players and beating them. We have Cody Gakpo doing that at the moment, but adding Semenyo to that would be perfect,” he remarked.
“He’s a great type of player that we need to sign if something happens with Salah. But even if Salah stays, we are lacking that typical wide winger at the moment. Regardless of Salah’s future, he’s absolutely a player we should be looking to sign in January if we can,” Riise continued.
Increasing Interest in Salah
The 33-year-old forward was omitted from the squad that traveled to Milan for the Champions League victory over Inter, further fueling speculation about his future. Additionally, there’s escalating interest in Salah from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
Semenyo reportedly has a release clause in his contract, set at £65 million, a fee that Liverpool may consider if Salah decides to move on in the near future.
