Ancelotti’s Preference for Lukaku Over Mbappe

Romelu Lukaku Was Wanted by Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid Before Kylian Mbappe Move

Romelu Lukaku’s Agent Confirms Real Madrid’s Interest

Romelu Lukaku’s representative has disclosed that Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of Real Madrid, expressed significant interest in acquiring the Belgian forward, prioritizing him over Kylian Mbappé at one point.

Insights from the Agent

In a recent conversation with AS, Federico Pastorello, Lukaku’s agent, shared insights about Ancelotti’s intentions regarding the 32-year-old striker. He mentioned that in 2023, the then-manager was keen on bringing Lukaku to the club on a loan basis, especially considering Lukaku’s diminishing role at Chelsea due to various complications both on and off the field.

Financial Considerations at Real Madrid

However, Real Madrid refrained from pursuing Lukaku, as they were not willing to allocate financial resources for a loan deal while they were simultaneously setting their sights on signing Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain.

Agent’s Perspective

Pastorello stated, “To be honest, I believe Real Madrid is the top club in the world for many reasons. At one point, there was a chance for Romelu when his future was uncertain, and Ancelotti was at the helm.”

He further elaborated on Lukaku’s situation: “Real Madrid was contemplating enhancing their attack, but their primary focus was already on securing Mbappé for the upcoming year, making it impractical to invest in a loan deal.”

In conclusion, Pastorello emphasized that while Ancelotti had a positive view of Lukaku and there was an opportune moment, the deal ultimately did not come to fruition.
