Alonso Supports Arbeloas Aspirations as Next Real Madrid Manager Before Alaves Showdown
Alonso Faces Pressure Ahead of Crucial Match
Ongoing Uncertainty Surrounds Manager
Recent suggestions from Spanish sources indicated that Alonso might be dismissed if his team failed to secure a victory against Manchester City; however, no such actions have been taken yet.
Alonso, at 44 years of age, continues to be under scrutiny. A loss against 11th-placed Alaves this Sunday could potentially seal his fate as the team’s head coach.
Potential Successor Comes into Focus
Among those speculated to take over is Arbeloa, 42, who currently manages Real Madrid’s reserve team.
Ahead of the upcoming match with Alaves, Alonso praised Arbeloa as a future candidate for the top position at Real Madrid but maintains that he is not feeling the weight of pressure.
“He could definitely be in the future. He’s performing impressively,” Alonso remarked when queried about Arbeloa’s potential to lead the first team.
He added, “However, our focus is on the players who will be joining us tomorrow. We haven’t discussed that at all.”
Focus on Team’s Performance
When asked whether he feels his job is at risk, Alonso responded,
“I consistently emphasize that the primary concern for me is the team and the organization.”
He continued, “Tomorrow, we face a significant match given the current circumstances, and we aim to improve our recent performances. We have a challenging opponent ahead. That’s what matters most right now.”
Alonso further reflected on the nature of football management, saying,
“Having been in football for many years, I’m aware that there have likely been more managerial changes by this stage in prior seasons.”
He concluded with,
“Football is a demanding environment, and I believe there have been times when more managers have lost their jobs at this point in the season. I’ll let you ponder that while I focus on my present responsibilities.”
