Alonso Addresses Madrid Supporters Post
Real Madrid Parts Ways with Alonso Following Super Cup Loss
Coaching Changes in Madrid
Just one day after their defeat to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final, Real Madrid announced that they have mutually agreed to terminate the contract of coach Xabi Alonso. The Spanish manager had barely completed seven months of his three-year deal.
The news has taken many by surprise, as there were expectations that he would be afforded more time to turn things around. Alonso, who played for Real Madrid from 2009 to 2014, stepped into the managerial role in June.
Alonso’s Farewell Message
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Alonso expressed his sentiments regarding his brief tenure:
“This chapter of my career has come to an end. It hasn’t turned out as we would have liked. Coaching Real Madrid has been both an honour and a responsibility.”
He continued, thanking the club, the players, and the fans for their support:
“I leave with respect, gratitude, and the pride of having done my best.”
Interim Management and Future Prospects
Following Alonso’s exit, Real Madrid has appointed Alvaro Arbeloa, the current head of the reserve team, as the interim manager. The club’s board is now tasked with finding a permanent replacement for Alonso.
Alonso’s future appears promising, with speculation linking him to positions at clubs such as Manchester United and Tottenham. His previous success with Bayer Leverkusen has opened doors for new opportunities as he considers his next moves.
