The Algerian Football Federation has intensified efforts to bring Ethan Mbappé into the fold as part of a push to attract elite dual-nationality players.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who has already featured for France’s U19 side, is yet to make a senior appearance and remains eligible for three nations.
It is understood contact has already been made with his family in hopes of convincing him to consider a future with the Desert Foxes.
Ethan’s background gives Algeria room to dream as his mother, Fayza Lamari, is Algerian, while his father, Wilfried, is Cameroonian, and he was born in France.
The Federation’s confidence has grown especially after successfully bringing Luca Zidane into the national setup.
Luca, who represented France at youth level, recently made his senior debut for Algeria and is seen as an example of what the country can achieve in recruitment.
There have even been suggestions that the Algerian FA hopes to involve Ethan Mbappé in their squad for next year’s World Cup.
Ethan currently plies his trade in Ligue 1 for Lille and made five appearances with two goals scored.
