Mateu Alemany Appointed as Sporting Director of Atletico Madrid

Mateu Alemany has officially taken on the role of sporting director at Atletico Madrid.

Collaboration with Club Management

In his new position, Alemany will collaborate closely with Carlos Bucero, the club’s general director of football. Together, they will oversee all operations related to the first team and the youth academy at Atletico Madrid.

A Strategic Decision

This appointment is a personal selection by Bucero, intended to enhance the club’s sports management framework. Alemany is stepping back into the world of football after nearly two years away from the sport, having departed from his previous role at Barcelona.

Alemany’s Previous Experience

Prior to joining Atletico Madrid, Alemany served as the football director for Barcelona from 2021 until 2023.
