Al Ahly Beat Zamalek 2-1 in Cairo Derby Thriller

Al Ahly came from behind to defeat rivals Zamalek 2-1 in the 131st Cairo Derby at Cairo Stadium on Monday night.

The league leaders drew first blood from the spot in the 32nd minute through Hossam Abdelmaguid to give them the advantage at the break.

But Al Ahly staged a come back in the final 20 minutes of the second half to turn the game around.

Hussein El Shahat leveled the score in the 71st minute before winning a penalty just five minutes later.

Mahmoud Trezeguet kept his cool from the spot to seal all three points.

The result lifts Al Ahly to third place on 15 points, while Zamalek remain top of the Egyptian Premier League table with 17.

Beyond the points, Al Ahly’s win ensures they hold the bragging rights in the Cairo derby, at least until the next fiery showdown.

The victory reasserts Al Ahly’s title credentials and adds another fiery chapter to Africa’s most famous club rivalry.
