After Africa confirmed its nine automatic qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the race isn’t quite over yet, one final ticket remains up for grabs.

Four determined nations will fight for it when the CAF playoff tournament kicks off in Morocco next November.

The mini championship will unfold over two matchdays, with the semi-finals set for 13 November 2025 and the final on 16 November 2025.

Based on FIFA’s October rankings, Nigeria enter as the top seed, followed by Cameroon, DR Congo, and Gabon.

The semi-final pairings pit Nigeria against Gabon, while Cameroon battle DR Congo.

The winner of the final will carry Africa’s flag into the FIFA Intercontinental Playoff in March 2026.

The last global showdown is where six nations from different continents will compete for two remaining spots at the World Cup in North America.

For heavyweights Nigeria and Cameroon, it’s a second shot at redemption.

For DR Congo and Gabon, it’s a golden chance to make history and extend Africa’s representation to a record ten teams at the 2026 World Cup.
