Ghana Premier League Matchday 8 Review

Aduana FC holds the top position in the Premier League standings, with Medeama close behind. Kotoko remains undefeated, and Hearts of Oak have reenergized their efforts following the completion of matchday 8 on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Aduana FC 1-0 Eleven Wonders

Aduana FC clinched their spot at the top of the Premier League table with a 1-0 win against the struggling Eleven Wonders at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Charles Gyamfi Kamara netted the only goal of the match in the 83rd minute, ensuring that the Fire Club secured all three points. Aduana now leads the league with 18 points, just one ahead of Medeama. Their impressive season continues with an unbeaten record of six victories and two draws from eight matches.

Basake Holy Stars 1-2 Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak emerged victorious over Basake Holy Stars with a score of 2-1 at the AAK Sports Arena in Ampain, breaking a four-match winless streak.

After a tightly contested first half, the Phobians took charge, winning a penalty in the 43rd minute, which was expertly converted by Frank Abora Duku. Hamza Issah extended their lead to 2-0 in the 59th minute with a clinical finish. Although Holy Stars managed to score from a penalty taken by captain Issah Yakubu in the 68th minute, Hearts held on for a much-needed victory, moving into the top half of the table, while Holy Stars remained at the bottom without a win this season.

Dreams FC 2-0 FC Samartex 1996

Dreams FC delivered one of their finest performances this season, achieving a 2-0 victory against the previously unbeaten FC Samartex 1996 at the Tuba Astro Turf.

Suraj Seidu broke the deadlock in the 30th minute, and substitute Jonathan Nemorden sealed the win with an 85th-minute goal. This result lifted Winfred Dormon’s side out of the relegation zone and ended Samartex’s unbeaten streak. Dreams FC is set to face Karela United in their next match, while Samartex will seek redemption against Swedru All Blacks on home turf.

Berekum Chelsea 1-0 Vision FC

Berekum Chelsea snapped a three-match winless run with a narrow 1-0 victory over Vision FC at the Golden City Park.

Seidu Abubakar scored the lone goal, marking him as Chelsea’s fifth different scorer this season. This win alleviates some pressure from coach Samuel Boadu’s shoulders, placing Chelsea on eight points in the standings. Chelsea’s upcoming match will be against Heart of Lions, while Vision FC, now on a two-match losing streak, will host Eleven Wonders.

Bibiani Gold Stars 1-0 Young Apostles

The reigning champions, Bibiani Gold Stars, secured a 1-0 win over Young Apostles at Dun’s Park.

Samuel Atta Kumi scored the only goal of the game in the first half, marking his seventh goal of the season, which moved the Miners up to fourth place with 16 points. Young Apostles faced their second defeat of the season, sitting in ninth place with 11 points. Gold Stars will remain in Bibiani to confront Karela United next, while Young Apostles are set to host Bechem United.

Swedru All Blacks 1-1 Heart of Lions

Swedru All Blacks mounted a determined late comeback to draw 1-1 with Heart of Lions at the Swedru Sports Stadium.

Heart of Lions took the lead just before halftime through Chauncy Freeman, who capitalized on a defensive error. Despite trailing, the home team pushed forward, and their efforts paid off in the 88th minute when they scored to earn a crucial point. This result leaves Heart of Lions in fifth place, while Swedru All Blacks still seek their first victory of the season. Lions will look to recover against Berekum Chelsea next week, while All Blacks will travel to Bibiani for their match against FC Samartex 1996.

Asante Kotoko 4-2 Karela United

Asante Kotoko bounced back in style, claiming a stunning 4-2 victory over Karela United in a thrilling match at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Determined to recover after their exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, Kotoko demonstrated a strong attacking performance, even in the absence of key player Albert Amoah, who recently signed with Al Ahli Benghazi in Libya. Midfielder Hubert Gyau kicked off the scoring in the 6th minute, followed by a quick equalizer from Bless Ege for Karela. Gyau scored again to restore the lead before Seth Kwadwo headed in a third goal before halftime, giving the hosts a solid 3-1 advantage.

Kotoko maintained their dominance in the second half, with Peter Amidu Acquah adding a fourth goal, making it difficult for Karela to mount a comeback. Although Karela managed to score a second goal in the 72nd minute, it did little to change the outcome. This win keeps Kotoko undefeated this season, with 11 points from five matches and three games still in hand, as they prepare for a significant matchup against rivals Hearts of Oak on November 9.
