Duranville Set for Loan Move to FC Basel
Transfer Update
Offensive prospect Julien Duranville, currently with Borussia Dortmund, has struggled to make his mark in the team, prompting plans for a winter loan. Initially, a move to another Bundesliga side seemed likely, but it now appears his destination will be overseas.
Loan Details
According to reports from ‘Sky Sport’ and ‘Bild’, the 19-year-old winger is set to join FC Basel on a six-month loan, with travel arrangements for the trip taking place tomorrow, Thursday. Notably, ‘Sky Sport’ has indicated that there will be no option to buy included in this loan deal. However, Basel is expected to have a say in any future transfer related to Duranville if his performance improves during his time in Switzerland.
Dortmund Challenges
In his time at Dortmund, Duranville has faced several setbacks due to injuries, alongside stiff competition for playing time. Coach Niko Kovač highlighted this situation at a recent press conference, emphasizing the high caliber of players at Borussia Dortmund: “We are at BVB, and there are really good players at BVB. He is too, but the others are better.” Borussia Dortmund previously secured Duranville from Anderlecht for a fee of 8.5 million euros in 2023.
Interest from Bundesliga Rivals
Both Borussia Mönchengladbach and Werder Bremen showed initial interest in Duranville during this winter transfer period but eventually decided against pursuing him. BMG’s sporting director, Rouven Schröder, publicly stated, “No! An interesting player, but not for Borussia.” Now, Duranville aims to take the next step in his career at Basel.
